The life and times of Johnny Manziel
Despite plenty of negative attention in the offseason, the misadventures of Johnny Manziel continue.
The latest bad decision by ?Johnny Football? happened in Thibodaux, La.
Manziel was a participant at the Manning Passing Academy, an annual summer football camp for 8th-12th graders. His stay there was short.
After Manziel showed up late to camp activities Saturday, Archie Manning asked him to leave the camp according to a report.
Thibodaux Daily Comet sports writer Chris Singleton was told that Manziel was absent from the camp because he was sick. This conflicts with what radio reporter Patrick Netherton said on Twitter today.
Retracing Manziel?s steps the night before via social media lend credibility to Netherton?s tweet. He was photographed with Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron at a bar Friday night.
To make things more confusing, camp officials stuck by the story that Manziel was feeling ill and that was why he left early in a statement to ESPN.
?Johnny Manziel did participate in some activities in the 2013 Manning Passing Academy as a college counselor/coach. After missing and being late for practice assignments, Johnny explained that he had been feeling ill. Consequently, we agreed that it was in everyone?s best interest for him to go home a day early.?
Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning said Manziel is welcome to come back to the camp.
?I can remember a 20-year-old Eli [Manning] missing a meeting and catching some flak. We always have counselors who leave early. Johnny was great with the campers for the time he was here. He had to leave early. I wish him the best and I want him to come back as a counselor next year.?
If this is the new norm, there will likely be more headaches caused by Manziel before he leaves College Station ? a town he is already desperate to get away from.
